The Dixie Cattlemen build the barn beside the railroad in the 1930s and the market opens 17 September 1948 with 748 head sold; Pete Clemons and partners buy it in 1961 and his sons run it today [OLM]. The Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame describes it as Florida's largest cattle market, as reported [AGHOFP][FDACSLM].
