The legislature authorizes the Everglades Experiment Station in 1921; R. V. Allison's finding that the muck needs copper unlocks the area's fertility, and Emil Wolf's sweet corn gene and Victor Guzman's lettuce varieties build two industries [EREC][BGH]. Herman Wedgworth leaves its staff to found the Belle Glade fertilizer house [WEDGH].
