Born near Fort Meade in 1910 and raised in Frostproof, he turns a ten acre wedding gift grove of 1933 into a citrus and cattle empire, serves in both houses of the legislature, and takes control of Alico in 1972 [WBHG]. The University of Florida stadium carries his name [WBHG].
